The centipede is part of the arthropoda phylum and the myriapoda subphylum. Centipedes breath through the use of the trachea and spiracles. Centipedes have spiracles on their exoskeletons to allow air to successfully flow to the trachea. The trachea transports metabolic gases to and from tissue. The trachea may be connected to air sacs throughout the centipede's body. The tracheole is a respiratory tube of the trachea. Tracheoles pass on oxygen to cells and eject carbon dioxide from the body.
